Meet the Lady Behind the Music!

Many of the songs performed by Sweetwater Revival are songs written by Cathie Paxson. Cathie also happens to be the mother of Katie Paxson Paull (alto and founder of the group Sweetwater Revival). Cathie is passionate about gospel music because as she says, "It expresses what is really important to me." She goes on to say, "I have often asked myself why certain songs move us to emotion? Why do we yearn for music in our lives?
I believe God created this desire deep within our soul. When my daughter Katie was little she used to make up songs and sing them to Jesus. I remember listening at her door and her words brought tears to my eyes. I could feel the innocence and pure love for the Lord in those songs... simple yet so meaningful. We seem to lose this along the way sometimes... just like the gospel... so simple even a child can understand. I pray the Lord will help us rekindle that child-like love for Him and may His sweet water fill us up to overflowing."

More About Cathie

Cathie grew up in a Christian home. Her beloved parents shared the gospel with her and she was saved at age five. Cathie's beloved husband of almost 40 years, Dr. Charles L. Paxson, Jr., went home to be with Jesus on August 5, 2013.  Cathie was singing to him and holding his hand when he took his last breath.  They have had three children: Ann Elizabeth (with the Lord), Katie Joy and Benjamin. They have also been blessed with a daughter-in-law, Katie Ann and son-in-law David Benjamin Paull. One of Cathie's greatest joys has been the birth of her three beautiful grandchildren... Elizabeth Joy Paull (Ellie),  Addison Rose Paxson (Addy) and Ethan David Paull.  What a treasure they are!

Cathie spends a great deal of time at her piano writing songs and has written
close to 700 songs to date. She is a former R.N. and has been an antiques dealer for over 25 years. Other activities she has enjoyed include: oil painting, High School cheerleading coach (6 years), college pom squad coach, church pianist (12 years) , marching banner ministry director and Sunday school teacher (8 years).

The Paxson Family ran a Christian All-Star Basketball Program from 1994-2013 (20 years), "Minnesota Glory Basketball."  They sponsored from 2-10 teams annually through the years.  This program was taken from I Cor. 10:31 which states, "Whatever you do in word or deed, do it all for the glory of God." Cathie states, "Never give up your God-given creativity. When you are discouraged, pray for a new song to sing. Let God use you in new and exciting ways. Most of all if you don't know Jesus in a personal way, take a moment and ask Him to forgive your sins and to come into your heart and live. He can make you a brand new person. He loves you and desires to have a personal friendship with you."
